Energy Saving Tips - For Your Home

A few simple steps can add up to a load of savings.

Set your thermostat at 78°F or higher. Each degree setting below 78°F will increase your energy consumption by     approximately 8%.
We recommend set back "Energy Saving" thermostats.
Use bath and kitchen fans sparingly when the air conditioner is operating.
Have All Season's Heating and Cooling inspect and clean both the indoor and outdoor coils. The indoor coil in your air     conditioner acts as a magnet for dust because it is constantly wetted during the cooling season. Dirt buildup on the indoor     coil is the single most common cause of poor efficiency. The outdoor coil must also be checked periodically for dirt buildup     and cleaned as needed.
Check the refrigerant charge. The circulating fluid in your air conditioner is a special refrigerant gas that is put in when the     system is installed. If the system is overcharged or undercharged with refrigerant, it will not work properly. You will need All     Season's Heating and Cooling to check the fluid and adjust it appropriately.
Reduce the cooling load by using cost-effective conservation measures. For example, effectively shade east and west     windows. When possible, delay heat-generating activities, such as dish washing, until the evening on hot days.
Over most of the cooling season, keep the house closed tight during the day. Don't let in unwanted heat and humidity. If     practical, ventilate at night either naturally or with fans.
Leave the furnace fan on manual to circulate air through out the house.
Keep filters clean.

More Heating and Cooling Tips

Weatherstrip your windows and doorways. Add door sweeps beneath doors for added insulation.
Check your furnace filter every month during the heating season and replace when it is dirty.
Save on your heating costs by adding insulation to your uninsulated or inadequately insulated attic.
Repair cracks or broken seams in forced-air heating ducts.
Lowering your thermostat while you are not at home or at night while you sleep can save money. For every degree you lower     your thermostat, you can save approximately 3 percent on your heating bill. Generally, lowering your thermostat by five     degrees will make an impact on your energy bill.
Close your drapes or blinds at night to keep the heat inside your premises.
During cold weather, seal all openings to cooling units (wall and window air conditioners and outside central air units) to keep     the heat inside your premises.
Don’t block heating outlets or return registers with furniture or other objects.
Choose a high-efficiency model when shopping for a new gas furnace.
